This pull-apart pizza bread is made in a skillet and perfect for sharing with friends! Psst! Your guests will be extra thrilled when they discover the melted cheese inside the crust!
Ingredients
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) olive oil
- 500 g (about 1 lb) pizza dough
- 100 g (3½ oz) cheddar, cut into 12 cubes
- 100 g (3½ oz) pepperoni
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) thyme, chopped
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) oregano, chopped
- 250 ml (1 cup) mozzarella, shredded
For the marinara sauce:
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 10 ml (2 tsp) garlic, minced
- 1 can (540 ml) diced tomatoes (no salt added)
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) tomato paste
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) Italian seasoning
- Pepper, to taste
Preparation
- Heat the olive oil in a 25 cm (10 in) ovenproof skillet over medium heat. Cook the onion and garlic for 1 minute.
- Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste and Italian seasoning. Season with pepper and stir. Let simmer for 15 minutes over medium-low heat. Remove from the heat and transfer to a bowl.
- Preheat the oven to 205°C (400°F).
- Form the pizza dough into 12 balls, placing a cube of cheddar in the centre of each ball.
- Wash and grease the skillet used for preparing the marinara sauce, and then place the balls of dough around the edges of the skillet. Add the marinara sauce and pepperoni to the centre of the skillet. Sprinkle with thyme, oregano and mozzarella.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
